About The Dark King:

Darkness descends over Roanoke Island in the sequel to the young adult bestseller, FAE.

Devilyn Reilly has crossed over to the sinister world of The Dark Fae, reigning over the realm as its King. He is to fulfill a prophecy–to unite the Light and Dark Fae once and for all, but those who love him now fear that he will never be the same again, that he can no longer be trusted, that every trace of the Light he once had is gone forever.

Caroline Ellis, the final heir of the Light Fae, must learn to survive without the protection of her one true love. She must come to embrace her own strength to evade those in the Dark court who seek her destruction—for the power is within Caroline to use Light to change Fate itself…

Caroline and Devilyn’s chemistry is undeniable. Their destiny together inevitable if only they have the will to overcome The Darkness and The Fates.

THE DARK KING, the second installment of the stunning Fae trilogy propels readers into the mystical and magical world of the Light and Dark Fae, where star-crossed love ignites a battle between two powerful kingdoms, one that can consume everything that stands in its path.

Excerpt:

“Have you danced with anyone yet?”

“No, I was actually waiting to dance with the prettiest girl in this school.” Rowan gave me a boyishly charming grin. “I was waiting for you.”

And just like that, I was blushing again.

“Hey, I don’t mean to embarrass you.”

I shook my head nervously. “No, I’m not embarrassed at all.” A lie, of course, but he didn’t need to know that. “Do you want to go and find Teddy and the rest of the guys?”

“Yeah, let’s go. But you will dance with me at some point tonight, Caroline.”

“Be careful what you wish for. I’m not much of a dancer.”

“I’ll be the judge of that,” he whispered in my ear as he placed his hand on my back and guided me through the crowd.

The sensation of his touch ran up my spine and throughout my whole body. It felt good, but it didn’t feel the same as when Devilyn had touched me. It felt nice, but it didn’t feel right. I smiled up at him and hoped that he didn’t notice that I was slightly uncomfortable as I began scanning the room.

I may have told Rowan that I was searching for Teddy, but that was a complete lie. I was looking for Devilyn, holding on to the hope that maybe Tatiana was telling me the truth and that maybe something incredible would happen tonight to prove it.

The music had shifted gears and Drake’s “Hold On, We’re Going Home” was now blasting. We walked through the center of the crowded dance floor as many of my fellow classmates said hi or gave a high five to Rowan. Once we made it to the other side of the room, there was still no sign of Devilyn, so I stopped and turned around to face Rowan.

“Maybe we should get something to drink?”

“It actually looks like Devilyn has gotten a drink himself.”

I turned back and with a single glance all my hopes were dashed. I couldn’t believe my eyes.

I had no idea she would be here, but there she was. Standing in front of him, smiling up at him, and taking a sip of his drink as he smiled down at her.

She was beautiful. Drop-dead, traffic-stopping, gorgeous. She possessed the same type of beauty that Devilyn, Tatiana, and even Rowan had, almost too perfect to be real. Her black hair was wild and sexy around her heart-shaped face, and her dark eyes were almost identical to Devilyn’s. Her rosebud lips were puckered out in a pouty way that I was sure came naturally and probably drove men crazy. She was laying it on thick as she looked up at him, smiling as she ran her hands down his lapel. He brushed a strand of her hair away from her face and ran the back of his hand down her arm.

It was all I needed to see.

The inadequacy I felt in that moment was completely overwhelming.

Suffocating.

There was no greater feeling than that of inferiority.

But I had nowhere to hide and I couldn’t continue standing there, staring at him like some forlorn teenager, so I turned to Rowan and said what I never imagined I ever would.

“I think we should dance.”
